If you are planning on livestreaming for your campaign on Twitch, here’s a helpful guide to assist you with setting up your Twitch livestream!
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Before the Event
While you can create a Tiltify campaign and go live on Twitch in just a few minutes, planning your fundraising live event ahead of time lets your community know when you're going to be fundraising and gives you time to customize your campaign. There's a few things you'll want to do a couple days before the event:
Create a Tiltify Campaign
Before you can fundraise, you'll need to create a Tiltify campaign. You can create a campaign in the Campaigns section of your Tiltify dashboard or by clicking the 'Start fundraising' button on a Charity or Event page. Don't forget to add incentives such as polls and rewards to directly engage donors, and set milestones and targets to break your main goal into sub-goals, motivating your community to donate more. Not sure how to set up a campaign? Check out how to Start your first individual campaign.
Create an Overlay for your Livestream
Add a Tiltify Overlay with Alerts Tiltify has a custom overlay and alert suite available in the fundraiser dashboard. With the Tiltify overlay, you can add GIPHY Alerts, custom goal bars, color schemes, and fundraising tool alerts to your campaign overlay. Once you've customized the overlay, simply save your changes and click the 'copy URL' button, then add it as a browser source in your streaming software.
Add the Tiltify Donation Extension to the Twitch Channel
The Tiltify Fundraising Extension will enable donations to be made to a Tiltify campaign without ever having to leave the broadcast! Our Integrating "Tiltify Fundraising" Extension on Twitch guide will walk you through how to add the extension.
Add a Chatbot
Adding your favorite chatbot and creating commands allows you to have the donation link posted automatically in chat at intervals and/or add a command donors/moderators can type in chat to have the donation URL posted in chat.
Share your Campaign
Once you've create your campaign and Twitch livestream, it's time to let people know about it! For the biggest impact, include a donation link for your campaign with a call to action in all your social media posts, and be sure to tag @Tiltify!
Day of the Event
Once the day of your event arrives, there's a few things you'll want to do at the start and during your livestream:
Pin Donate URL
At the beginning of the livestream, you'll want to post in chat and then pin the donation URL for your campaign. Include a call to action such as “Donate Now! (Donate Link)”. You may want to begin the livestream 30 minutes to an hour before appearing on camera since it alerts your community about your upcoming livestream and allows more time for viewers to join stream.
Chat Moderation
While it's rare, there sometimes can be trolls in chat, even for a charity livestream. Just in case, you'll want to use trusted moderators during livestream event. Moderators also can help identify large and smaller donors throughout the stream, provide the donate link to viewers, and help keep chat engaged.
Calls to Action
One of the best ways to encourage viewers to donate to your campaign is calls to action. Calls to action remind your viewers that you are fundraising, what you are fundraising for, and that they can donate. It's recommended to do a call to action every 10-15 minutes. You can use charity Impact points to show how every dollar matters(for example, "Every $10 is 10 meals for the hungry!).
Donor Recognition
Another great way to encourage viewers to donate is to thank donors on a regular basis during the stream. Make sure to recognize both large and small donors as every donation helps you get closer to your goal!
Post Event
There's a few steps you can take at the end of your stream and afterwards to encourage viewers and those who couldn't make the livestream to still donate:
Ending Call to Action
Close out stream with a call to action reminding viewers they can still donate and how long after the livestream the campaign can still take donations after the livestream event
Share on Socials
Post on social media with the final fundraising numbers with the donation link with a final call to action. For example: “Thanks to you we raised $X!!! Thanks for watching and remember you can still support an amazing cause DONATE- (donation link)”
